Case study

Jessica Gallacher
Jess' passion for engineering has led to her being offered a wind turbine apprenticeship with Orsted.

After leaving sixth form college, Jess started her BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering at the Grimsby Institute. Almost immediately, it was obvious that Jess had a passion for the subject, which was reflected in her assignment and exam results.

Throughout her BTEC, Jess' confidence grew, leading to her applying for a wind turbine MOET (Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician) apprenticeship with Orsted.

"The MOET course has been a great opportunity for me. It has helped me understand the working world, whilst still being able to continue my education. I have developed my knowledge of general engineering, which has since become more focused on electrical engineering.

My tutors have been very encouraging and supportive. Having tutors like this has made the course much more enjoyable and easier to study. I can't wait to use the skills I have learnt in a lifelong career within the engineering industry."
