Riseholme College is a specialist land-based education provider which serves the regional
and national demand for technical skills. Located on the outskirts of Lincoln, the college has two very different campuses just two miles apart: the historic Riseholme Park campus, shared with the University of Lincoln and the multi-million-pound Showground campus, both of which boast state-of-the-art teaching facilities.
The college specialises in Agriculture, Land-based Engineering, Horticulture, Animal Management and Equine. However, Riseholme also offers a broad range of general education courses including Sport, Public Services, and Applied Sciences. The college’s provision includes Further Education and Higher
Education courses, Apprenticeships and short courses designed to up-skill the agricultural workforce. The Institute of Technology at Riseholme offers a range of agricultural courses including Precision Agriculture up to degree level.

Riseholme College’s Institute of Technology is located at the college’s Showground campus. Representing a £1.2m investment, the purpose-built Centre for Agri-Food Technology is a cutting-edge training facility which includes classrooms, dedicated workspaces and precision farming technologies. Students are able to experience the very latest technologies designed to transform food production by improving productivity and reducing environmental impact. The college’s specialist precision agriculture equipment includes a KRM Fertiliser spreader, Ares P2713 Seed Drill, McConnel Robocut, Trimble, drones, virtual reality and soil testing equipment.

Ben has enjoyed everything about the IoT experience and his access to precision farming principles and technologies. He sees precision farming as vitally important for the future of agriculture and for him and his future career. Ben has been able to apply his knowledge and expertise developed on his course in his current place of work, selling precision farming equipment for a farm machinery dealership. He sees himself continuing within this area in the future and counts his IoT experience as making a significant difference to his employability as he has a depth of knowledge and understanding of equipment and technologies that other colleagues don’t currently have. Furthermore, he feels comfortable and confident using and talking about this impact precision farming equipment can have on the sector.
