Lincoln UTC is a specialist, science and engineering college for 14 to 18 year olds, offering Level 2 and Level 3 courses. In the sixth form (judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted) students ether follow an A Level science pathway or focus solely on engineering. Typically, 30% of UTC graduates move on to apprenticeship programmes whilst 70% embark on further academic study, either at University or with one of our Institute of Technology partners who offer Level 4 and Level 5 engineering courses.
Lincoln UTC workshops are equipped with the full range of traditional machinery (lathes, milling machines, welding) to allow all students to master basic skills. Investment linked to the Institute of Technology courses has allowed the college to complement this training with state-of-the-art CNC machining, plasma and laser cutting, and multi-material additive manufacturing. The college has also invested heavily in robotics and simulators to support students’ learning about programmable logic control and automation.
Lincoln UTC offers BTEC and T-Level Engineering courses where 80% of learning is inside the classroom and workshop and 20% is in the workplace. Students benefit from one day each week working directly with one of our industry partners… leading local engineering firms across a variety of different fields and specialisms. Placements are closely matched to individual students’ interests.
