Students can also study alongside current employment, allowing them to upskill in a role they’re already working in. Andrew Soulby is studying HND Mechanical Engineering at UCNL while working at British Steel. He said:
“I’m studying a HND in Mechanical Engineering to assist me in my role at British Steel as a maintenance engineer. I’m here to progress as much as I can. Subjects of study do correlate to what we’re doing in the workplace. My long-term view is degree level, and then we’ll assess from there.”
Students can choose from a variety of courses and approaches to practical learning, from apprenticeships and Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) to foundation degrees and degree-level programmes.
