What's the benefit of being a LIoT employer?

Here at the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology (LIoT), we’re big on collaboration and work in partnership with employers across the whole of Lincolnshire.
In doing this, we support the economic growth and prosperity of Greater Lincolnshire by preparing individuals for work and supporting their development within employment.
We work directly with three key employers across the region - Bakkavor, Quickline Communications and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust - but many other employers use our education partners to upskill and develop their employees throughout Lincolnshire.
So what is a LIoT employment partner? And what’s the benefit of being one?
What is a LIoT employment partner?
Our employment partners work closely with us to help us deliver high quality apprenticeships, training and higher level education that is bespoke to their job roles.
They work with us to design and develop provision - whether for programmes for their own organisation or to ensure our open courses meet broader sector needs.
Whether they are looking to upskill, retrain or support the progression of their current staff, recruit new staff, or develop higher level skills to support the sustainability and growth of the business, our purpose is to provide them - and others like them - with the skilled workforce that they need.
Our focus is on STEM industries such as manufacturing and engineering, including agritech and motor vehicle, as well as construction, civil engineering and digital. By working with businesses in these sectors, we ensure our offer meets local and regional employers’ needs - and we are always keen to engage new employers.
What are the benefits?
When working with us, employers have access to a wide range of benefits which give them access to new minds, new skills and new technologies.
They are able to upskill and retrain their current employees with high quality apprenticeships, higher level qualifications and bespoke training - ensuring their staff have exactly the skills they need for the business to succeed.
Qualifications that their employees can access include:
Higher National Certificates/Diplomas (HNC/Ds)
Foundation Degrees (FDs)
Industry qualifications
Units of qualifications
Non-accredited courses, such as one-day courses
As part of this, their employees have access to our education partners’ state-of-the-art facilities, which replicate real life working environments, as well as the expertise of tutors.
And it’s not just the current workforce that benefits - we are training up the workforce of the future and our students all graduate with the skills our employment partners are looking for, making them a match made in heaven!
So by working together, we are shaping a curriculum that’s meeting the needs of local businesses and increasing the chances of meeting skills shortages in the future.
How to get involved
Employers can get involved with LIoT at a level that suits the time, commitment and requirements they have. This could include:

We are a unique regional partnership, offering a one-stop shop for employers to access education and training in key sectors. With a strong track record of working with organisations of all sizes, our industry-experienced professionals can help employers to upskill existing staff or access a new talent pool.
