GCSEs are one of the more significant milestones in a young person’s life, but it is important to recognise they are a stepping stone for a remarkable future in education, and later the workplace.
At the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology (LIoT) we offer a whole host of courses and qualifications that are tailored not only to your needs as a student, but also the needs of employers in our region. This means it is one of your best options for securing work later down the line.
Whether it’s hands-on work experience through apprenticeships or more classroom-based foundation degrees and T Levels, there is plenty for students to explore with LIoT.
The levels of education
Across England, Wales and Northern Ireland there are nine qualification levels for students, with the first three being considered “Entry Level” and they are available in a variety of forms. GCSEs with a grade of 3, 2 or 1 are considered Level 1 along with the likes of a first certificate or a level 1 diploma. Level 2 covers all other GCSE results above this, so anything from a 9 to a 4. The last of these entry level qualifications is Level 3, which is an AS and A Level qualification, or perhaps an advanced apprenticeship, or even a T Level.
You can progress through these qualification levels the older you get and the more courses you take on. For example, a foundation degree is considered a Level 5 qualification, while a full degree with honours is a Level 6, a master’s degree is a Level 7, and a doctorate degree is Level 8; but it’s not just degrees that help you progress through these education levels.
And that is where the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology can help you.
Qualifications and course offerings at LIoT
Working hand-in-hand with both our education and employment partners at LIoT, we can offer a wide range of courses that are suited to and cater towards your needs, as well as potential future employer needs. Offerings like Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs) and Higher National Certificates/Diplomas (HNC/Ds) can give you not just a level 4 or 5 qualification, but also an opportunity to learn real-life experience and skills that set you up for success in your working career.
Should you opt for a different route to A Levels for your level 3 qualification, you could pursue an apprenticeship through the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology and earn the same level of qualification as you would if you sat A Levels. You can earn money throughout an apprenticeship, as well as learning valuable skills that can make you stand out from the crowd of a modern job market.
That isn’t to say that LIoT can’t offer you high-quality education options, though. T Levels and Bachelor’s degrees are also available in a broad church of subject areas, with our education partners assisting to provide world-class technical education and opportunities.
