Supporting the local workforce and creating opportunities for skilled workers is what the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology (LIoT) is all about, and alongside our education partners we work collaboratively with employers all over Lincolnshire to make this a reality.
This not only creates pathways for individuals who are passionate about a certain subject area or sector of work, but it also supports the wider Greater Lincolnshire economy as a whole.
We know how important it is for businesses to have a skilled, productive workforce, so we support local businesses by offering a wide range of opportunities for their employees to upskill and progress. By offering flexible and part-time courses, this means that employees can still continue working whilst learning new skills that will benefit their employer.
What qualifications could your employees gain?
We offer access to level 4 and 5 higher technical qualifications (HTQs), which help learners develop into more advanced roles that require greater skill and understanding levels. They could also study for a level 5 foundation degree or a level 4/5 higher national certificate/diploma (HNC/HND), which focus on efficiency and productivity in the workplace.
As well as this, we work alongside partners to offer level 3 apprenticeships for a wide range of STEM students, splitting their time between 80% work experience and 20% classroom studies, which juggles the balance between valuable knowledge and hands-on participation.
By offering these courses and qualifications, we set up tangible goals and aspirations for people who want to progress in their careers, and give people a platform to get ahead of the game, both practically and theoretically.
One of our LIoT students, Zahra, is doing a BSc in Computer Science alongside her job in IT, and she recently explained the great benefits of balancing work and study.
She said: “I work in IT so it’s about knowing everything, and when you are working you just focus on one specific thing, but with my studying I have a better knowledge of everything. The studies help show you which career you actually want to do, and which sector you want to work in. It gives you more understanding about what you are doing and what you will do in the future.”
Becoming a LIoT employment partner
As well as choosing to put your employees through a part-time LIoT course, you could also explore the opportunity of becoming one of our official employment partners.
Our employment partners have access to a strong talent pool of potential future employees all studying for focused and specific qualifications - allowing them to see students firsthand in working scenarios and offer guidance on how the students can unlock their potential.
Simply put, choosing to become an employment partner at LIoT enables you to find upskilled workers who have already been given work experience opportunities, which is a precious gem in the world of recruiting new talent.
If your current employees are interested in upskilling in their roles, then why not take a look at our education partners’ websites to explore the courses on offer? You can find the links below.
